Year 4 and 5 Sustainability Conference

UcLan University Trip

During health week, Year 4 went on a trip to Preston Uclan University to explore the world of Science.  We visited four different activities during the day; including Going Beyond The Tablet, The Sound of Science, Fab Physics and the Science Showfloor.  We had an amazing day!

Enormous Turnip

Year 1 read the story about the enormous turnip and then went to the field to find that we had lots waiting to be pulled out! We enjoyed being able to see what was under the soil and we predicted how big we thought the turnips would be.

Anglo-Saxons and the Fearsome Vikings

Year 6 have been studing the Anglo-Saxons and the fearsome Vikings. As part of our research we have created masks to show what armor the Vikings wore. Year 6 have enjoyed learning lots of interesting facts and history during this subject.

Town Hall

As part of our studies on Parliament and local government, Year 3 visited the Fylde Borough Council Town Hall at St Annes.

Harvesting Crops

This week all of our classes have been busy harvesting their crops from our growing planters at the Pavilion.  We have grown turnips, carrots, leeks, onions, potatoes and lettuce.  Our school kitchen has used some of our produce for our school lunches and children have taken the rest home to enjoy…

Sun Awareness

The School Nurses came to visit year 5 to discuss all about keeping safe in the sun.  We learnt lots of tips and evaluated different sun hats to see which would offer the best protection.

School Council Sell Fruit Kebabs

We were treated to healthy fruit kebabs at breaktime, made by our School Council.  This is helping us to reach our target of 5 fruits and vegetables a day for a healthy balanced diet.

Pizza Making with YMCA

Year 5 enjoyed making some delicious pizzas, topped with lots of vegetables, which could count towards your 5 a day!  Thank you to Tim and Rachel from the YMCA, who came in  to make them with us and the rest of the school.

Our Health Week Worship

This week the School Council launched our Health Week with a wonderful assembly all about healthy eating at lunchtimes.  They also launched a competition for all the classes to design healthy packed lunches.  We look forward to judging the winners.
